Safe Work Australia's model of 'Work Health & Safety' imposes duties upon persons conducting a business to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that the environment at a workplace is without risks to health and safety.
It requires provision of suitable and adequate information training, and instruction to workers and imposes duties regarding the general working environment and facilities for workers.
Assessment: This unit has a written assessment, participants must demonstrate competence reporting hazards and emergency incidents according to organisational procedures. If you have literacy difficulties then a trainer may be able to assist you with a verbal assessment.
Businesses who handle food have a responsibility to ensure that staff who undertake or supervise food handling activities, have the skills and knowledge in food safety and food hygiene for the work that they do.
